Universal Health Coverage a top priority for the Kenyan Government

In the Official despatch from the Kenyan Cabinet dated 28th February 2023, it was stated

IN ADDRESSING THE health of the nation as part of Administration’s Universal Health Coverage plan, Cabinet approved the development of centres of excellence for health education and training seeking to improve cancer care in Kenya; as well as the (exchange) of healthcare workers between Kenya and the United Kingdom under the Kenya UK Health Alliance (KUKHA) framework.”

It is encouraging – and at the same time challenging - to see the clear support of the Kenyan Government for the work of KUKHA in the context of its top priority of Universal Health Coverage.

This was emphasised in meetings which Jeremy Lefroy (Co-Chair) attended in the Ministry of Health in Nairobi in February and at a meeting which he and Graham Lord (VP Manchester University) attended in March with the Kenya CS for Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora (Hon. Dr Alfred Mutua).
